Masato Ishikawa, Head of Department of Mechanical Engineering

Thank you for visiting our website. We, Department of Mechanical Engineering, are a very large group comprising four divisions (Complex Mechanics, Thermo and Fluid Dynamics, Design and Integration, and Control and Intelligence) and more than 20 research areas (laboratories). About 60 faculty members are currently engaged in various cutting-edge research and education related to mechanical engineering.
In addition to robots, automobiles, aerospace, ships, and machine tools, the industrial fields related to mechanical engineering include information, artificial intelligence, environment, new energy, social systems, disaster prevention, human support, medicine, biotechnology, semiconductors and advanced materials. We aim to contribute to the present and future of humankind by exploring the universal truths behind actual and future problems in these wide-ranging industrial fields, and by conducting research in collaboration with universities, research institutes, and private companies in various countries.
The rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) technology in recent years is bringing profound changes to our lives, and its fusion into mechanical engineering is accelerating. However, our mission is not just about using these tools, but about exploring how to connect technology to social well-being, and foster future leaders who can play essential roles in the AI era.
The Suita Campus, where our Department of Mechanical Engineering is located, is adjacent to the Expo’70 Commemorative Park and is surrounded by greenery and has excellent access to the center of Osaka. We look forward to meeting you all at this wonderful campus.
